A few years ago our Christian church offered a 32-week course on social justice. We met weekly, read about 12 books, had discussions, participated in practical exercises, and did “border crossings.” The entire package was transformative. I used to joke that it ruined my life because I now viewed the daily news with a different lens, a social justice lens. And my heart wept!
